A prospective study of management of distal end of radius fractures in adults by ligamentotaxis using external fixator with distracton

Background and Objectives: Preservation of the articular congruity is principle prerequisite for successful recovery following distal radius fractures. The best method obtaining maintaining an accurate restoration anatomy however, remains a topic considerable controversy. External fixator with distractor (UMEX) one treatment end fracture main aim this study to evaluate results obtained by fractures external fixation. Method: In prospective controlled study, 30 cases unstable intra-articular extension were treated using ligamentotaxis. Mean age patients was 42.5 years, applied mean duration 6.5 weeks followed up average 9 months post operatively.Results: Assessed as per clinical scoring system Green DP O’Brien et al. functional at follow up. Excellent good result noted in 90%.Conclusion: fixation (Umex) ligamentotaxis provides better anatomical comminuted use radial requires careful assessment pattern, appropriate patient selecting meticulous surgical techniques choice fixation, post-operative monitoring aggressive early institution rehabilitation. final not only depends on surface but also associated soft tissue injuries damage.
